How to get from Athens airport to the city and your hotel: private transfer, group van, taxi, metro and bus – pros, tips and how to book.
How far is the airport from central Athens?
Athens International Airport (ATH) is about 35 km from the centre; the drive usually takes 35–50 minutes depending on traffic.
Private transfer – the easiest way
Your driver waits in arrivals with a name sign, helps with luggage and takes you straight to your hotel – ideal for families, groups and late arrivals. Yana's transfers offer private cars, large vans and child seats.
Taxi
There's a taxi rank outside the terminal; taxis to the centre use a fixed fare that differs by day and night. Queues can be long in high season.
Metro and bus
Metro line 3 (blue) runs from the airport to the centre and there's an express bus to Syntagma – the cheapest option, but less convenient with luggage or kids.
Beyond the city
Transfers also go to the Riviera, marinas, the Peloponnese, Evia, Arachova and more – including day trips with a driver.
